Drypoint on plant dyed Arches Text Wove paper
11" x 15"

“Plant Life” is a piece derived from my garden drawings and a plant dyeing process that allows a more intimate experience with the plants themselves. Plants are collected from my backyard, bundled within folded and rolled paper then simmered until the paper is dyed. The flowers, leaves and stems are then removed leaving traces of their own colorful and random marks. The columbine drypoint is a memorial to my great grandmother, grandmother and mother who each propagated generations of the plant. “Plant LIfe” is symbolic of my connection with the earth; it honors family ties and cultivates a regenerating creative dialogue.
